What are the policies for class registration?
Register online or call to sign up for classes as soon as you can to ensure your place. Payment is due at time of registration; if there is a kit fee due we’ll let you know. If you need to cancel your place in a class let us know so we can register another student. If you contact us 36 hours before class we will refund the cost of the class. Any time after that, your refund will depend on enrollment. We reserve the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment; your payment will be refunded fully.
Do I need to bring anything with me to my class?
You will receive a supply list for each class, please be prepared and ready before class starts. Check with Martha, some of the materials and tools are available at the studio. Don’t forget to bring along paper and pencil for any notes.
Fabric should measure 42" - 44” wide unless otherwise stated. Make sure your fabric is cut on the straight of grain. If you have questions when purchasing fabric for your project, give us a call and we’ll help.
Yarn weight and gauge will be stated. If requested, create a gauge swatch before class to ensure proper sizing of your project.
If the class asks for them, please bring along *Basic Sewing Notions* including: a pair of good fabric scissors, seam ripper, straight pins and a pin cushion, machine and hand sewing needles, a measuring tool, marking tool, paper and pencil.
Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
We have sewing machines for your use in the studio, but, you are encouraged to use your own machine to gain confidence with it. Please make sure it is in good working order, you are comfortable using it and please wind a bobbin before class. Don’t forget the power cord and foot pedal along with the correct needles and the manual.
If you would like to use a studio machine please let us know. Arrive early to class to get to know the machine and wind a bobbin so you are ready to sew when class starts.
What about bad weather?
Craft Akron will be closed in the event of bad weather, if the Akron schools are closed, we will be too. We’ll notify you about rescheduling your class.
What if there is a class I want to try but the time doesn't fit into my schedule?
Call or email Martha, she can either set up an appointment for an individual class, or put in a request with the guest instructor to schedule another class date. It never hurts to ask!
What if there is a class I want to take but it isn't on the schedule?
Call or email Martha, we can add dates to our most popular classes or she'll try to find local artists to teach skills or techniques that you want to learn. It still doesn't hurt to ask!
